The International Journal of Machine Learning and Engineering (IJMLE) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and ensuring that all research published in the journal is original, ethical, and free from plagiarism. Below are the key components of the Plagiarism Policy for the journal:
Plagiarism is the act of using someone else’s ideas, words, data, or work without proper attribution, or presenting them as one’s own. This includes, but is not limited to:
Direct Copying: Copying text, figures, or data from another work without proper citation.
Self-Plagiarism: Reusing one’s own previously published work without proper citation.
Mosaic Plagiarism: Paraphrasing text from a source without proper citation, even if the words are altered.
Accidental Plagiarism: Failing to cite sources properly due to ignorance or negligence.
Originality of Submissions: Authors must ensure that their manuscripts are original works and do not contain plagiarized content. Manuscripts that do not meet these standards will be rejected immediately.
Plagiarism Screening: All submitted manuscripts undergo a plagiarism check using reputable plagiarism detection software (such as Turnitin or iThenticate) before they are sent for peer review. If significant similarities with other published works are found, the manuscript will be rejected or returned to the author for revision.
Pre-Publication: If plagiarism is detected at any point before the manuscript is published, the journal will notify the corresponding author, and the manuscript will be rejected. The manuscript may also be returned to the author for proper revision and citation.
Post-Publication: If plagiarism is detected after an article has been published, IJMLE follows a strict procedure:
Investigation: The journal will initiate an investigation to determine the extent of the plagiarism.
Correction or Retraction: Depending on the findings, the article may be corrected, with the plagiarized content removed or properly cited. In cases of severe plagiarism, the article will be retracted, and a retraction notice will be published.
Proper Citation: Authors are required to cite all sources, including direct quotes, paraphrases, and data from other works. Any use of copyrighted material must be appropriately acknowledged.
Disclosure of Sources: Authors must disclose any assistance received during the research or writing process, including funding sources, research collaborators, or third-party contributions.
Ensuring Proper Attribution: Authors should ensure that all references to previously published works are accurate and complete. This includes full citation details for all figures, tables, and content derived from other sources.
Confidential Review: Any plagiarism allegations will be handled with confidentiality, and the journal will investigate the issue thoroughly.
Collaboration with Institutions: If necessary, the journal will contact the author’s institution or funding body to address serious cases of plagiarism. This process ensures that proper action is taken to maintain the credibility of the research community.
Sanctions: Authors found guilty of plagiarism may face sanctions, such as being banned from submitting future articles to the journal or being reported to academic or research institutions.
Guidance for Authors: IJMLE provides authors with resources and guidelines to ensure proper citation practices, including how to avoid plagiarism, proper use of quotes and paraphrasing, and understanding copyright laws.
Ethics Training: Authors are encouraged to engage in ethical research practices and to educate themselves on the importance of academic integrity.
If a manuscript is found to have potential plagiarism, the following process will be followed:
Report to Authors: The corresponding author will be informed of the results of the plagiarism check and asked to address the issues.
Revision or Resubmission: Authors will be given the opportunity to revise the manuscript and resubmit it if appropriate.
The editorial board, peer reviewers, and authors are all expected to uphold the highest standards of integrity, following this Plagiarism Policy to ensure that IJMLE remains a trusted and respected source of scientific research in the field of machine learning and engineering.
